There are two inventions worth to mention from the Glenfiddich distillery this year.

End of January, the 2010 release of Glenfiddich 30 Year Old whisky is rolled onto markets worldwide. This year, for the first time, the bottles carry individual bottle & batch number. The new bottle is sealed with wax, embossed with a badge, and enclosed in a wooden case. A bottle of Glenfiddich 30 Year Old costs around 350 USD.

End of February, the new Glenfiddich Rich Oak whisky was released at Whisky Live London. It is a 14 year old single malt, which has been finished in new (!) American and European oak casks. The company also plans to plant a Glenfiddich Oak forest somewhere in Scotland. The first sapling will be planted by William Grant & Sons Chairman, Peter Gordon, in March 2010. This unique whisky is relatively less expensive, costs around 45 USD.
